This area of Lombok is mostly very green along the year and its west coast boundary directly oriented to the neighboring island, Bali. Perang Topat
Perang Topat is a symbolic ‘war’ ceremony to thank God for His blessing on the fertility and ample crops in the past. It’s also intended to make a wish for next better prosperity. The ceremony is celebrated once in a year based on the lunar calendar and is normally falls somewhere on December. Normally, two groups of community, Sasak Wetu Telu and Balinese Hindu, involve in the war. They start throwing topat (steamed rice wrapped in coconut leaves) to each other right after the Waru flower falls. The war takes place after a week of preparation which full of rituals.
