Senggigi is Lombok's most famous tourist area. Situated 10kma north of Mataram, the capital city, and approx. 15 kms from Lombok's Selaparang Airport, Senggigi has a variety of accommodation types, ranging from 5 star to basic backpakers, many wonder full eating places and is a good places for unwinding. It also makes a good jumping-off point for adventures to other part of Lombok.
The road from Mataram to Senggigi (Ampenan, Montong, Batu Layar and Batu Bolong) Contains many art and handy craft shop. If you turn at Montong towards Gunung Sari, you can also find some fine timber merchants and shops selling bamboo products.
Senggigi it self has many bays with white sandy beaches and save swimming spots. " Senggigi Reef at central Senggigi has some good break for surfers. It's also an excellent area for snorkeling because of the myriads of marine species and colorful, beautifully shaped coral to be found here.
The beach area in Senggigi can also provide spectacular sunset, a look at the life of the fisherman and their unusual brightly coloured sailing boats, a chance to buy souvenirs from the local hawkers or just the opportunity to sit back and enjoy some good food and cold drinks. Senggigi also boasts some jumping night spot featuring live band, DJ's and drinking and dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

Nort of the main Senggigi area are the majority of luxury Hotels and Boutiques resort situated on a spectacular coastline lined with rugged cliffs, inlets and protected buys with sparkling and blue lagoons. The waters and reefs here are also great for swimming, sailing and snorkeling.
Driving along this panoramic, hilly coastlines gives tourist some spectacular photo opportunities in all directions to the beaches, cliffs and reefs north and south and out to the gilis, over looking the pearls the pearls and sea food farms, or just looking down on stunning coconut palm studded land and quaint villages.
